What is this blog about?

What is this blog about? It started as a sort of journal about the journey I thought I was taking - one of weight loss. You see, my wife inspired me to finally change my ways, get off the couch and start working on being healthy. I'm selling it short, but that's the gist of it. In any case, the efforts I made to lose weight resulted in developing a love for fitness, and I've decided to carry on with it.

Here at last is my story. . .

Yay, it's working! (-2#)

So tonight the family and I will be hitting the pool which precludes gym time.  It's sort of a bummer, i'm really getting into the workout thing.  It's also not so bad though because it's not like i'm missing the gym to go eat or go sit on my butt somewhere, so not too bad I guess.  Plus I can always make it up over the weekend.  Huzzah.  In lieu of my Thursday weigh-in I did a Wednesday weigh-in and i'm down 2 more since Monday.  Kick ass yo!  I'm doing something right, and feeling like a beast.

Side-bar: The Protomen's second CD sucks as workout music (though it is an awesome disc for general purpose listening).

One thing that's going on right now - work.  I'm so stressed out about it.  I try to use the gym as a pressure release for that, but i'm just can't shake it.  I switched jobs back in October looking for something new.  I really wanted to get outside of my comfort zone and expand on my toolset.  This is supposed to be good for you, right?  Well, I can't stop questioning that decision now.  It's ridiculous how out of my depth I feel sometimes.  Sometimes it's something I don't understand, but most often its just not something i'm interested in doing.  I only bring it up in this venue because I hear stress can impact your ability to gain/lose weight.  It's a factor I don't know how to account for except to note it and say "let's hope it doesn't impact me".

Earlier in the week I joked with the wife about introducing some intervals into my workout because I knew I was going to be missing a couple days, so it'd be workout Monday, off Tues, go Wed, off Thurs, etc.  Hahaha.  For real though, I started a little with the intervals yesterday.  4 minutes steady, 1 minute high pace.  Not too bad if you think about it - 20% at the higher rate.  I'm looking to introduce it gradually into my workout.  No sense in introducing something to my body it can't handle yet, but I gotta keep pushing too.
